Since licorice used to have to be brought in from the Near East, licorice is known and appreciated mainly in coastal regions. Its consumption is widespread, for example, in the coastal regions of France and northern Italy, as well as throughout England.
Individual rods are about 150-190mm long and 5-12mm in diameter (depending on the batch).
